“Mr. S’s House Guest”

by Savanna Rain Uland

Fully-illustrated, dark novella. Available now.

Mr. S, a motorcycle-riding Special Forces veteran, enlists the help of a younger woman-- one that has a particular "shine"-- to assist him with his demons. She thinks he means his mental health issues. He hints at romance, but no. He wants her to take a deep dive in to the demons haunting his Colorado home.

She isn't the only one in for a surprise when the demons turn out to be real. A quirky cast of supernatural prisoners, an evil Master, a battle royale on motorcycle... None may get away.

"Mr. S's House Guest" is Ms. Uland's second novella but her first paranormal fantasy. Fans of "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis and Michael Cain's Alfred from Batman, put on your helmets and lean in. You will find fun plus food for thought within these pages.

“Ms. Uland put together a masterful use of perspective in this well thought out story that left me curious as to what was next for the entire cast of characters. The story itself stands alone as a great work of otherworldly adventure. However, it does leave you wanting to read more. I suspect that the adventures of the rapidly developed characters can and should continue. You leave this tale with a solid sense of the world it was written in and enough understanding of the characters that you are genuinely interested in how they will progress. This is not a journeyman’s piece, but the balanced hand of a skilled storyteller. As a veteran I typically cringe when people try to offer insight into the world of PTSD or even combat fatigue, but her insight did leave me a bit disturbed. She was not ham handed nor insulting. The result was a balanced look with a variety of multidimensional characters in a brief but fulfilling story. I look forward to seeing more from this talented young author.”
